"Three Cups of Tea" Greg Mortenson

written by Greg Mortenson, the high-profile advocate of girls' education in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

"Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Fight Terrorism and Build Nations ... One School at a Time

"It's a beautiful story, and it's a lie," Krakauer, Mortenson is facing serious allegations on his charity work and his falsified stories about Korphe and being abducted by Talibans, Where he is shown in a photograph with the men supposedly to be the Taliban and in another with the same group holding AK-47

Well i think he did tried to climb the Everest and failed, so he thought of writing his expedition but it was not that spicy to attract readers so he thought to add some 'Masala' to the book. He is not a good lier but he did managed to get a handsome revenue out of the book yet failed to hide the loose ends properly.

We should not forget here that he did build some of the schools in Waziristan and Afganistan though he lied about the quantity. My guess is he did it to get more charity money for the C. He is using the charity money for his own travel and book promotions and yes he give a bit to the schools once a year or so.

At the end i would say that if he hadn't lied about all this he won't be able to get this much public fame and obviously charity money.

Historical view of Mai's Case

Mukhtaran Mai :
A resident in the southern Punjab village of Meerwala in Pakistan. At the age of 30, in 2002 she was raped by four men. In order to set his 12 year old brother, Shakoor free.

At that time when i heard the story i was pretty shocked and all sympatheis were with her. Eventually they went away as she became a sexually abused trade mark of Pakistan, and Pakistan's repute was at stake.Media played a vital role in propagating it and yes our NGO's were always there.

Now lets see the case which took almost a decade to solve and only one man out of alleged 14, was convicted.

On 22 June,2002 Shakoor was abducted by three Mastoi men. He was taken to Naseem's house, with whom he supposedly had sex. Naseem's brother Abdul Khaliq rejected to hand him over to his family, instead  handed him over to police. Mai's family tried to settle the dispute by offering some land to Naseem's family, by marring Naseem with Shakoor and Mai with one of their man. Mastoi's wanted revenge on the principle of "eye for an eye", so they accepted the offer and asked Mai herself to come and apologize from Naseem's family. Mai went thier with her Father and uncle, dispute was resolved and settled. suddenly Abdul Khaliq pulled out his revolver and forced Mai to enter a stable near by where she was raped by four men, then paraded in the village naked. Her father covered her up and took her home. No report was filed, but her brother was released as the dispute was setteled.

In regular Friday sermon, Khatib told the whole village to ask for mercy from ALLAH, as a very sinful incident has taken place, luckily a reporter from near by village heard it and published it in press. It was immediatle picked up by international media, and the case is registered against 14 people on 30 June, 2002.

Trial went in prosses and court, on 31 August, 2002 gives the verdict. Sentencing six men to death. Four involved directly in rape, two for being the part of the Panchayat and giving orders, rest of the eight are freed. Mai's response to this verdict "i am satisfied with the verdict".

Mukhtar Mai file separate appeals in the Multan bench of the Lahore high court against the acquittal of the eight men set free on 3 September, 2002The Multan bench of the Lahore High Court reverses the trial court's judgment on the basis of "insufficient evidence" and "faulty investigations"on 3 March, 2005. The court acquits five of the six while the death sentence of the sixth is turned into life imprisonment. The court orders the release of the five acquitted.

Ms Mai writes to the government saying she fears for her life if those acquitted are released. Human Rights group hold rallies in various Pakistani cities protesting against the acquittals. Pakistan's highest Islamic court, the Sharia court, suspends the Lahore High Court's acquittal of the five men on 11 March, 2005
The court rules that the Lahore High Court does not have the jurisdiction to hear appeals in cases tried under Islamic laws. The Sharia court decides to hear the case itself.

Now Supreme Court Jumps in to save LHC and decides to hear the final appeal of the case.
Four of the five acquitted in Ms Mai's case are released by the orders of the Supreme Court on

15 March, 2005Ms Mai appeals to President Musharraf to order the re-arrest of the four men released saying she fears for her life 17 March, 2005. The five men released earlier are re-arrested along with the eight others who had been found not guilty at the original trial in 2002, on 18 March, 2005. On the orders of Punjab Government for 90 day detention. Mukhtar Mai files an appeal in the Supreme court against the acquittal of five men sentenced to death by the Supreme court on 26 March, 2005. The Supreme Court says it will start hearing Ms Mai's appeal against acquittals on 27 June and Court suspended the acquittals of the five men convicted. It orders that they and eight others found not guilty at the original trial be held pending retrial.

Then case continued from year after years and we ended up in 2011 where on 19 April a verdict from SC comes out, four out of five men are freed and Abdul Khaliq is sentenced to 10 yrs.

"In view of the majority decision, all the noted appeals are hereby dismissed. The suo moto action initiated by this Court vide order dated 14.3.2005 in the matter is also discharged. Therefore, all those who were arrested pursuant to the order of this Court dated 28.6.2005 if not required in any other case be eleased forthwith. Abdul Khaliq, however shall be released after serving his sentence as awarded to him by the earned High Court, the benefit of Section 382 Criminal Procedure Code extended to him by that Court is also maintained."

We fought for this Judicial system and we stood by it, now we are again going to stand against it. I think we should accept the verdict and move on.

Love or What??

It was a normal boring office day, i was supposed to go with the Technical team in field to solve some problems. It started raining heavily and we decided to go and eat Koozi Haleem, so we all jumped in a carry van.

Suddenly mobile rang on the dashboard i took it and incoming call was from "I LOVE YOU", was surprised on asking it was discovered that the cell belonged to a technician. He talked to who ever was on the other side very politely and gently he said "main apnay boss k sath barish enjoy ker raha houn tum sunao kia ho raha hai". Call ended and out of curiosity i asked him who it was, he blushed and said your "Bhabi". We all had a good laugh about it.

We arrived at the restaurant, i asked him how he got married. At first he said its a long story, on insisting he agreed. We decided to go to a milk shop, we were all sitting in the carry van and drinking milk.

he started with a big sigh, "sir i was in love with eldest daughter of my uncle(chacha) and we both were very close to each other. It continued for 1-1/2 years, then suddenly one day she came and said to me that she is getting married. shocked and out of ideas i said to her tell your mother that you love me and will marry me only. She didn't responded and went home, i was very angry and frustrated at that time. I asked her to meet me, she came and i told her that i have a solution we should run away and marry. I assured her that i will take good care of her and love her forever. I heard a shocking reply from her, "I cannot resist my family and will marry to what ever man her parent decides to". I was very disappointed and heartbroken came home and kept thinking about her and the promises she made to me. I was thinking why its me why ?? then i ran away without telling my family or friends, ended up in Karachi at Shrine of Abdullah Shah Gazi. there i spend three to four days and met some guys who offered me a job at there canteen, i worked there for about six months. It was underpaid job so i left and went to the sea port to find a job, some friends from Karachi helped and i got the job on a boat as fisherman. i use to travel alot, went to the Gawaddar by sea and visited Balochistan many times, obviously due to my job."

Then he stopped and asked me "Boss ap kabhi Balochistan gay hain" i replied "no".

In return i asked him "and your family didn't tried to find you when you were missing according to them."

"I don't know but they must have asked my friends, but even they didn't knew where i was."

then he jumped back to the story "i worked there for about six months, then somehow my brother got a tip that i am working in Karachi. He came and brought me back home, i was so ashamed and didn't wanted to see my Ex's face. I didn't came out of my house for some days, but eventually it was back to normal. One day my family decided to visit Sialkot, my village. I also went with them and we went to the uncle's house. My Ex's younger sister came to me and felt sorry for my lost love and started asking me questions about her sister i avoided the conversation, she insisted and suddenly asked me if i can love her the way i use to love her sister. I laughed and said you are her sister and will leave me like she did, she promised me and asked me to test her for that. At first i was not sure what to say or do, but things were beyond my control. Once again i found my self in love, this time with the sister of my Ex."

we all started laughing and we giggled for a moment.

he said " sir, then we started writing letters and meeting secretly. One day i decided to send my family to ask for her hand from my uncle, my uncle's answer was not even close to yes. When i met her after her fathers rejection thinking that she will not resist her parents as her sister. She said we should run away i cannot live without you, we decided to talk to our families first as i was not in favor of running away this time. Both families had many harsh moments after our announcement of love, like typical backward families. After long struggle of two years i finally got married. Now i have a loving, caring and beautiful wife and a son four years old."

I asked him what you suggest Love or Arrange marriage??

"It doesn't matter but marry the women who love you, because she will always make you happy and you get the upper hand in the relationship"

Why Blogging :
Hmmm. its complicated i am not clear why i started this or will i be able to continue it on regular basis.
