1. In 1990 I was commanding an Artillery Brigade in D.I Khan, In the same year following an indigenous uprising of Kashmiris in the Indian held Kashmir, both India and Pakistan deployed their forces in the border areas. My brigade had just reached the border area when I received the orders to join regional office of Military Intelligence in Karachi. I talked to the Corps Commander and submitted that I wished to be with my troops during combat. I further pleaded that I had no intelligence background or formal training. Corps Commander advised that my services are very urgently required at Karachi to control the deteriorating security situation in Sindh. Accordingly, I reported to my new duty station and assumed command w.e.f 23 July 1990.



2. At that time MQM had recently fallen apart from the ruling political party (PPP). PPP workers had resorted to taking revenge from MQM for their political betrayal through the use of force. MQM reacted even more violently, through their armed political workers. PPP, MQM, PPI, JI and JSM activists were relentlessly killing each other. The daily death toll was 100-110 besides countless left wounded and incapacitated. PSF, APMSO, IJT and JSQM had taken prisoners the activists from their rivals and committed horrendous and inhuman atrocities on them e.g drilling holes in knee joints with the drill machines and burning their delicate parts with electric soldering machines. I immediately held meetings with Mr. Tariq Azeem, Dr. Imran Farooq and Mr. Saleem Shahzad of MQM, Prof. Ghafoor of JI, Dr. Hameeda Khoro and Mr. Mumtaz Bhutto JSF, Abdul Wahid Aresar of JSQM and Mukhtar Awan of PPI and gave them strong message that if they did not stop killing, arson and looting, army may be forced to step in to restore peace.



3. Initially the belligerent forces denied their involvement in the unlawful activities, however when irrefutable evidence of their crimes was produced, they took the advice more seriously. Following were the visible effects of intelligence intervention on security situation: (A) Within one week killing reduced drastically from 100-110 to 20-30 per day, (B) Exchange of prisoners of the belligerent sides was arranged and the exchange took place in Karachi Corp Headquarters.



4. All the above was achieved through negotiations and dialogue, not a single bullet was fired, nobody was kept in illegal confinement and no torture was committed to extract information. The importance of my primary task i.e intelligence and counter intelligence far outweighed my involvement in the internal security matters but at that time internal security had assumed greater importance.



5. Soon after, the provincial government launched a police operation against Muhajior populace residing in Pucca Qila Hyderabad on a day when PM, COAS and Karachi Corps Commander were on a tour abroad and army units were out on annual exercise. In this operation police killed dozens of men, women and children. The matter was reported to higher echelons. The President Mr. Ghulam Ishaq Khan ordered the army to move in and stop this carnage. Station Commander Hyderabad gathered about three hundred soldiers from the personnel left behind for guard duties and reached the site. On his intervention the police force withdrew. PM Benazir Bhutto on her return to Pakistan gave a press statement that army had supplied POF made weapons to Muhajirs. Police had besieged Pucca Qila to recover these weapons. When police force was about to reach the cache in Pucca Qila, army stepped in and took away the weapons in military vehicles. Everybody was shocked by this statement.



6. After this mahem, MRC (Muhajir Rabita Committee) gave a press statement that they (Muhajirs) were being forced to look towards India for protection of their rights. India readily responded to the call by stating that Muhajirs were India’s ex-citizens and India was obliged to ensure their safety and protection against state terrorism and genocide.Such statements reminded one of the Indian interventions in former East Pakistan, which finally resulted in the dismemberment of our country.



7. Earlier that year the PM had also publicly criticized the army for crossing the red line by enriching uranium to the levels which were not acceptable to big powers. She also gave an interview to BBC in which she mentioned of her support to India in crushing Khalistan movement. Sometime later the PM also criticized the army for conducting annual exercise in the Sindh province without her consent. ISPR had to clarify through a press release that under the law COAS was not obliged to seek anyone’s permission for conducting training exercises in any part of the country. All such incidents were reported by the press media.



8. During the same year, the government also gave attractive jobs to the Al-zulfiqar activists in Railways, PIA, Customs, KPT, Immigration, Exercise and Taxation and other sensitive departments, thus endangering national security. These activists of AZO had been imparted proper training by India, in sabotage, arson, bomb blasts, mass killings and other acts of terrorism. The authentic record of these terrorists was available with all the intelligence agencies. All these matters were reported to higher ups through normal command channels.



9. General perception of the common man was that the ruling party had got the votes but lacked the vision to run the country. Something appeared to be in the offing. On 16th August 1990 [ACTUAL DATE IS 06 AUG 90], President Ghulam Ishaque Khan dissolved the PPP government, using power under article 58 (2)b. In Sindh an interim government was formed under Jam Sadiq Ali as the Chief Minister. (A) On 12 September 1990, DG MI major General Muhammad Asad Durrani visited Karachi and gave following orders to me.(B) Open six accounts in different banks and send me the title and number of each account. (C) Keep on monitoring these accounts. Some funds shall be deposited in these accounts from time to time. You will keep me updated regarding the balance in each account on weekly basis.



10. All transactions in these accounts shall be treated as secret. You will be personally accountable to me for their accounting. And no information in this regard shall be shared with any unauthorized person. Services of grade 1 staff officer may be used for opening and handling of these accounts.
11. In compliance with these directions six accounts were opened in different banks. Funds started pouring in from 16 September 1990 onwards.By 22nd October 1990 Rs. 140 million had been received in these accounts. Thereafter following amounts were remitted as ordered by DGMI:-



a. Rs. 40 Million to GHQ account



b. Rs. 10.5 Million to regional office of MI Quetta



c. Rs. 5 Million to interim PM Mr. Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi



d. Rs. 5 Million to interim CM Sindh Mr. Jam Sadiq Ali



e. Rs. 2.5 Million to Mr. Muhammad Khan Junejo



f. Rs. 3 Million to Mr. Abdul Hafeez Pirzada



g. Rs. 2 Million to Mr. Sibghat Ullah Pir sahib Pagara



h. Rs. 0.3 Million to Mr. Muzaffar Hussain Shah



i. Rs. 0.3 Million to Mr. Akbar Ali Nizamani



j. Rs. 0.3 Million to Mr. Ghulam Ali Nizamani



k. Rs. 0.2 Million to Mr. Ghulam Arbab Rahim



l. Rs. 0.3 Million to Mr. Salah-ud-Din (Takbeer)

n. Rs. 3,828,000/- to Sindh Regiment Center and also used for construction of men’s living barracks, interrogation cells, cook house and Kotes etc.



12. The remaining balance of Rs. 67, 628,511/- including interest was later on sent to GHQ along with up-to-dated Bank statements. I would like to state that during my service with the Military Intelligence, I was of the opinion that the funds were coming from the GHQ.



13. In 1991 I learnt through news media that one Mr. Younas Habib had been arrested for fraud in habib Bank Ltd. At that occasion general Durrani rang me up to explore the possibility of having him bailed out. He said that COAS had desired to have him bailed out because because he had been helpful in doing a work of national importance. I showed him my inability to do so because the case was sub judice. In September 1991, I was posted out from MI to Kharian.



14. In 1994, during the second tenure of PPP government when Gen. Durrani gave an affidavit to the court and the matter became public, I for the first time learnt through the news media that these funds were stated to have been provided by Mr. Younas Habib.

Tribute To Arifa Karim

She was a Pakistani student and got an exceptional talent in computer science. She became the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in the world at the age of nine in 2004. She kept the title of MCP until 2008.

She was invited by Bill Gates to visit Microsoft Headquarters in USA at the age of ten, when she asked Bill Gates why the company doesn’t hire people of her age? How many women work in his company? Games should be made by children’s as they can feel it.

Achievements:

In 2005, Arfa got Fatimah Jinnah Gold Medal  in the field of Science and Technology, presented by the Prime Minister of Pakistan at that time.

In the same year, she got Salaam Pakistan Youth Award  by the President of Pakistan.

Arfa is also the youngest receiver of the Award for Pride of Performance, which is a civil award granted to people showing excellence in their respective fields.

Arfa Karim has represented Pakistan on various international forums, and was invited by the Pakistan Information Technology Professionals Forum for a stay of two weeks in Dubai.

During the same tour she also flew a plane in a flying club at the age of 10 and received the first flight certificate.

In 2006, she was the only Pakistani among 5000 developers in Tech-Ed Developers Conference themed Get ahead of the Game held in Barcelona on an invitation from Microsoft.

Death:

She suffered from Cardiac arrest after an epileptic seizure on December 22, 2011 and in this critical situation, she was admitted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Lahore, Pakistan. On January 9, 2012 Bill Gates directed doctors to adopt “every kind of measure” to treat her.

On 13 January 2012, Arfa Karim started to improve and some parts of her brain showed signs of improvement. Her father, Amjad Karim Randhawa, said Microsoft had raised the possibility of flying Arfa to the US for care

 But it was in fate that she died On 14 January 2012, 16-year-old Arfa Karim died at 9:50 PM (Pakistan Standard Time) at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Lahore. Her Namaz-e-Janaza was offered in Cavalry Ground Lahore at 10 AM on 15 January 2012, and later at Faisalabad the same day. The funeral was attended by the Chief Minister of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif. She was buried at her ancestral village Chak No. 4JB Ram Dewali, Faisalabad.

Arfa Softwear Technology Park:

On 15 January 2012, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced that the name of Lahore Technology Park would be changed to Arfa Software Technology Park

Her Message:

Arfa Karim Randhawa born in 1995 in Faisalabad  and died on January 14, 2012 in Lahore.

MemoGate : 

"A memo is a document typically used for communication within a company. memos can be as formal as a business letter and used to present a report."
It is a scandal which is not as straight as it looks, Mansoor Ijaz published a piece in Financial Times. Mansoor Ijaz has reportedly worked for agencies and is now a businessman in USA. The piece he wrote was shocking. Pakistani President's involvement in writing a Memo to US officials, to help set Armed Forces straight. This resulted in resignation of Hussain Haqqani, Ambassador to USA.

Now this scandal turned Political when Nawaz Sharif went to S.C for its investigation. This was a big turn in political arena, PPP made Hussain Haqqani its escape goat. Whereas SC decided to call all parties to the MEMO, submitt their detailed answers.

 Yousaf Raza Gillani said "its a piece of paper and has no significant value ....". 

On the other hand Millitary was furious, both COAS & DG-ISI said "Memo is a reality and should be investigated properly". 

Now after this Government and Military were on different pages. The main witness to the scandal Mansoor Ijaz, repeatedly claimed that he has subsequent evidence and can show it to court. Prime Minister was summoned by SC for contempt of court, he went to the court and stood his ground "he can't think of contempt of court". Then Mansoor Ijaz was given multiple visa for one year, yet another twist when he refused to come to Pakistan on security concerns.

It is as disgusting as it can get : An american national writes a piece and billions are paid to hold a case in SC, PPP and Army are now infront of eachother, Mansoor claims to have evidence which BB has refused to give. So now he has nothing conclusive so he is hiding. Haqqani's, Government and Army's future is in hands of Mansoor Ijaz who is not willing to come, so we are waiting for SC to decide something without proper evidence.


MayaGate:


Now this is interesting, as it is related to a celebrity who is acting Talibanish. It all started with a lonely girl (Maya Khan) who was refused every-time by everyone. So she decided to take revenge and gathered her own aunty brigade and started harassing men and women who were just enjoying the Park view, soothing air.

It is so disgusting, imagine yourself walking in the Park with a lady fully covered in Burqa, she can be your sister, cousin, classmate/colleague , friend or even wife. You are talking about the beautiful weather and suddenly you see a fat aunty running towards you with a mic in hand, followed by 10-15 more aunties with camera crew all rushing towards you. When they reach they tell you, they are conducting survey on mobile snatching. Then suddenly they start asking questions which have nothing to with mobile snatching.

Q- Do you study in college?

Q- This is morning time why are you out? Why are you not in college?
" WTF do you have to with it."

If married:
Q- Do you have Nikkah nama?
" who carries Nikkah nama all the time."

and then she gets real nosey and starts targeting your family and try to involve them in the discussion.

First of all who the hell is she? who has given her the right to ask anyone what they are doing in open broad daylight, is it illegal to walk with a friend in park? It was a shame that SAAMA TV aired it in a breakfast show. I was so much disgusted with what she did, she should be banned from Media as she misused the medium provided to her. This will propagate a negative aspect of society and every one will now ask questions from couples sitting in parks or public places.

She is willing to impose Shariya Laws on others not herself :

Musharaf : 

Last but not the least, Pervaiz Musharaf announces return to Pakistan on 23rd March this year. Whereas Government says he will be arrested from airport if he lands in Pakistan, on charges of Lal Masjid. this is another twist in Politics, but for that we have to wait till 23rd March.

The reason I want to be with girls

Well I want to Hangout with open and intellect minded girls, beauty is always a plus.  She should be capable of having discussion on any topic, I love to have a healthy and honest conversations. To me girls and boys can have a fair and honest relationship, but I don’t know why I always mess up, well to understand this I have come across what I want and what should be done to make it a perfect relation. When I make a girl friend the first thing I see is beauty regardless of her intellect, I am out of words or topic some times and make a fool out of myself. Suddenly I or she develops feeling and as I am totally against sexual relation so we end up very quickly. I have learned along the way, whenever you are friends with someone you should not jump into conclusions. First stage is getting to know each other, then earning the trust and being honest. Then comes care, affection and loyalty, when you have a mature relation then you can go for Romance and Love but Sex is never an option.

Question: Why can’t we have a good and healthy relationship between a boy and girl. What’s the issue is it our Media or access IT to blame, or it’s the society evil that haunts the teenagers.

 Me: “It’s our society to blame because we don’t teach our youngster the attraction/resistance of the opposite sex and its drawbacks. Though media and IT, uncontrolled also play a major part.

There are majority of boys who can’t even imagine being friends, just friends with girls. They don’t give a shit to what the girl is saying and what her emotions are towards him, they are somewhat more interested in getting them laid”

K.K : “well, Society is guilty for restricting youngsters from meeting each other so  curiosity and anxiety shoots, and once they meet they are willing to cross all the limits, As its natural Phenomenon ”

Me: “So this means that all boys and girls relations are fake and boys are using them. Or we can perceive that girls like to be used. Because if they didn’t like it they should have stopped after being ditched by one guy, but they go on and on with like at least 10-15 on average as far I know from my friends circle”

K.K: “well, its mutual advantage. Girls use boys for their own benefits, financial and security. On the other hand they have to satisfy boys for their sexual needs. In some cases it can be the girl who is more sexually active and drives boy into it.”

ME: “so we cannot think of any relation between boys and girls without emotions.”

K.K: “Unfortunately Yes!! ”

Silent Love (True Story)

Background :

Well, as Bilal was doing Job in Lahore, and was living at Sarwar Road Cantt. people living there (bachelors) know that its not a good place to live, as there is no market available for 24Hrs. So he decided to move to Main Market which needs no introduction. 

He shifted in a flat on second floor, there were three of them living (Bilal, Imran & Qasim). They were surrounded by families from Faisalabad and Karachi, Family living below was the one he was more interested in. It was a small family, Father (civil engineer), Mother (school principle), Brother (student-UET Texila) and Twin girls (student).

Now here's how the story begins,Imran and Bilal came to the flat, Bilal was about to ignite the "Geezer", he saw a petite girl cleaning the floor underneath. Well he kinda liked her and decided to contact her so he asked Imran to help him, Imran gave the idea "write your cell number and through it ... " He thought for a wile and agreed, he went and saw that kitchen window was open, he gathered his breath and threw the slip into the kitchen. 

The girl in the kitchen screamed mildly and then picked the slip, She ran inside. Upstairs he was little scared of the consequence's and excited -  Hoping against hope and constantly looking at his cell waiting for it to ring. After a few minutes he gave up hope and decided to lay down, but deep inside he was scared "what if the girl decided to give the paper to her parents .....", meanwhile someone knocked on the door, his thoughts were now getting materialized. Both the guys went to the door and found out there was no one out there, as they were getting back inside. They saw a paper pasted on the door, to their amazement it was the slip they have thrown downstairs. 

but with a Reply : "hahahaha we think this bloody paper belongs to you "

Now he was happy and confident that now they can start conversation, so the exchange of paper started between four of them. they started talking from the same open space they threw the slip, they talked till 5:00AM. Now it became a routine, then FaceBook ID's and cell phones were also exchanged. Chocolates were going downstairs and Tea was coming upstairs, they were all very happy, or as it may seem.

Actually it was a twisted Friendly-Love story in its making, the relation of the Twins(Asma & Zara) was very interesting and 180 degree opposite to each-other. The relation between Asma and Imran was also getting interesting.

TWINS Relation :

well the Twins relation is Unique, as i have heard Twins are related in so many ways. They have so much similarities, they feel pain togather and stuff like that. These all theories fail in this case, lets peek into some bitter realities these two of kind have.

Both try their level best to ditch each-other in every possible way they can, they want to be independent and freely move around. Asma had a boyfriend named Hash they were emotionally attached and they dated for sometime, unfortunately a misunderstanding got so worse that they broke up. Now Hash started dating Zara, which obviously was very disturbing for Asma. She told her sister not to date him and ditch him,as it will make her feel good because he ditched her.

But Zara's point of view is that he is good to her so he can't ditch him, and it feels good to see her sister suffer then to ditch him. When asked "If you have to shoot one: Your sister or Hash?" To my shock she replied "sister". This can be a shocking statement for any normal person but her friends come first, her family has done nothing to make her proud and she has no soft corner for them.

Both fight a lot and are ever ready to make other feel bad or look fool in-front of others. Its just that they both were born together but have totally opposite personalities one is more settle and other is Blunt-n-Bold.

Asma & Imran :

It started well between both, gifts exchanged and late night talks. Suddenly Imran was caught up in a feeling that can be described as Love, but as we have been taught that you can never have your ultimate Love. Our history is full of this shit like "Sassi Punno" "Heer Ranjha" etc.

As I see it, Imran developed the feelings for Asma at a very early stage but Asma didn't even thought about their relation to flourish like that. (it can be described as Pakistan's Dilemma that one of them develop feelings for other, we cannot be good friends without benefits)

So Imran was in Love with Asma where as Asma considered him as a good friend both of them didn't talked about their relation, which wasn't in favour of both of them so, Bilal decided to ask both of them one by one to understand their point of view on friendship. He asked Imran "How do you feel about your friendship?", he said something like: "I Like her too much and i guess i am in Love with her ...." when same question was asked from Asma She replied: "we are good friends and that's how I want it to stay ... "

Now both of them were on the opposite poles, Bilal asked both of them individually to seriously evaluate their relationship and try to be moderate, it takes time to say "Love or no Love" first be good friends and understand each-other. If you feel like then move forward but both of them rejected his proposal, he decided to roll back as no one was understanding the swear outcome of it. Then one day when he saw Imran very upset and frustrated, on asking he revealed they are over now.

Conclusion:

Well Imran still Loves Asma and she doesn't care about his feeling. The silent Love is there as it is between TWINS. Showing emotion can be one thing but your internal feelings for each other never dies. The rules this twisted relation still silently follows :

1) Asma still regrets the breakup with Hash, and it hurts her when Zara talks about him.

2) Zara besides teasing her sister, still cares and love her. She cry's when her sister is upset or hurt.

3) Imran started extensive smoking and still misses Asma, and he still wants to get-back with her.
